Guitar Player (played guitar for people when desperate for money and to attract customers/buyers), Merchant (sold very beautiful paintings that were made by himself and makes decent money off of the sales)
Social Class:
Third Estate
Financial situation:
Among the average people (in the Third Estate) in terms of wealth. He makes quite a lot money off of selling excellent paintings to the First and Second Estate people and of course, the Third Estate people. After spending money for his food and home, he uses the rest of his money for his leisure purposes, and always saves at least 5% of his total earnings for emergency money.
Appearance:
Young looking, has blond hair, brown eyes, and his hair is sort of flat. Dresses like a normal person, wearing no rags, but regular clothing. He's not skinny, but average weight and he's healthy. He is often found wearing a beret.
Habitual locations: (where are you found most of the time?)
Bernard is often found in his little shop (a mini tent) on a quite busy shopping street where all of the Three Estates go to (that's how First, Second, and Third Estate people find his works). If he's not at his little shop (which he usually is at least 12 hrs. a day), then he would be found at his house (which is a 3 min. walk away from his shop) or at a very close, local restaurant (at most 5 min. away from his shop). He lives near the Tuileries Palace.
Daily routine: (typical day for you)
1. Wakes up from home and checks if all the money he owns is there. 2. Prepares for a big day, such as brushing teeth, eating breakfast at a local, cheap restaurant or cooks his own breakfast, showers (quite rarely to save money up not to be spent on water). 3. Grabs all his art supplies and previous, unsold paintings, 30% of his total money, his tent, and then he carries them all to his shop, which is close by. He makes two short trips (one trip for carrying the tent to his space/area in which his store occupies, the second trip for everything else he needs). 4. Sets up his shop for a brand new day and makes sure that everything looks good. 5. Starts to paint pictures if there are less than 15 paintings, stops painting if there is 15 or more than 15 paintings. Plays the guitar to attract customers. 6. Makes money and spends a little bit (for lunch and dinner and any other necessities). 7. Toward night time, he starts packing things up and prepares to head home. 8. It's night time. He heads home. 9. Neatly packs away everything (the tent, the art supplies, etc.). 10. (Occasionally) washes his clothes with soap and water. 11. Goes to bed early for a good night's sleep (yes, in his clothes) and to regain necessary energy to be strong again the next day.
Personality/Quirks/Unique Personality Traits:
Very gentle and easygoing. Almost always smiling to brighten up the mood of his customers and the people around him. Very kind when it comes to bargaining for prices. Gives respect to other people (even those lower than him) and always listens to what others have to say. Can goof up and be silly at times, because his parents died when he was only 14 of a terrible illness, and spent the rest of his childhood with a painter (a very close friend of his father whose name was Alexandre) who taught him to paint (he already knew how to play the guitar). The mention of the death of his parents makes him gloomy, as he did love his parents dearly. He despises the king and queen, Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette
Past/individual-family history:
Was raised and loved dearly by his parents until the age of 14, where they both died of a terrible illness that couldn't have been cured. Bernard was very lucky not to have caught the illness. After his parent's death, Alexandre came to his aid and took him under his wing. Bernard hence lived in his Alexandre's house and learned how to paint very well until Bernard was old enough to go make a living on his own. Bernard had no siblings to depend upon, so the first few years of painting and selling was tough, but Bernard eventually got better and better at his job. Pretty soon, Bernard was making a fair amount of money to make a living, and always saves up a bit of money to give to Alexandre.
Family: (spouse? siblings?...)
Bernard has no parents, no siblings.
Social relations with your own and other classes (people you deal with or know about in the class, AND your opinions and feelings about them):
Due to his positive attitude and friendliness, Bernard has several close friends who have their stores close to his. Bernard also has a few friends from the First and Second Estate because they adore his paintings. Bernard has made a new friend named Gerard Depardieu.
Religion:
Bernard is a Catholic.
Education:
Bernard had a crude school education after the death of his parents. School education was thereafter provided by Alexandre. When his parents were alive, Bernard received a very good school education, because his family was in the high Third Estate area (pretty wealthy for a Third Estate family). After his parents passed away, Alexandre found Bernard and continued paying for Bernard's education. However, the tuition fee was too much, and eventually, Alexandre just had to teach Bernard what he knew, instead of paying high amounts of money for a tuition.
Languages you speak:
French with a tiny bit of slang.
Main privileges and/or hardships:
Bernard's main privilege is to imagine as if his parents are alive and make them proud. Bernard wishes to please his parents because he couldn't when he was younger (not very athletic and got decent grades). Bernard wishes that his parents were still alive so they can be proud of him, but they are sadly dead.

Journal Entry #1:
I was sitting in a restaurant one night, eating. After a long day of work, I was very hungry, and I was eating my fill. As I moved on to eating the main part of my meal, I noticed a certain man walk into the restaurant. I could see that he wanted a seat in the restaurant, although it was literally full. As he got closer and closer to my table, I immediately understood that he wanted to sit at my table. I grew reluctant, but I couldn't just tell the man obviously older than me to go away. He eventually sat down at my table, and he immediately began to talk about the poor economy of France, and other topics of politics. I decided to join in, because I knew a lot about how the economy was lately and I specialized in the topic of politics. We then moved on to the topic of the king and queen, and how stupid they were to be wasting all our money, and that they were corrupting our lives. We also complained about the bread prices rapidly increasing. After a while of discussion, the man ordered his meal and after the waitress left, he began his introduction. He stated that his name was Gerard Depardieu. He mentioned the location of his store, and I realized mine was very close to his. He asked me if I had heard of the Storming of the Bastille. I said yes I did hear of the Storming of the Bastille, and I agreed with why it happened. By tearing down a symbol of the king's power, the people probably embarrassed him, and I smiled at the thought of shaming the king in front of his own people, and causing the king to lose some of his powe. My thoughts wound me up, and soon, I wanted to be a part of taking down the king. If the people fall, the king will fall with us, I thought. He also brought up the topic of the major riots occurring in the streets, and I had a feeling that another big event was going to come. I thought that this was my time to fight against the king. He asked me if I wanted to join the people in the riot and I agreed. It is time the king steps down from power. Journal Entry #2:
I woke up one morning, full of energy. I could tell it was sunny from the light coming through my curtains from outside. I decided to open my curtains to let some light into my room. I pulled the curtains apart and I see a face that I've never seen before. It was so sudden, that I gasped and fell back. Before I recovered from the shock of surprise, the face disappeared. Then, I heard a knock on the door. I assumed it was the person at the window. I was suspicious as to why he was at my house at 6:00 A.M. So I grabbed a kitchen knife in case this man was dangerous. I heard the knocking on the door again. I looked through a peephole on the door and I saw the face I saw at the window again. So I decided to open the door. Gripping the knife in my hand, I opened the door slowly. I saw a man who was very short. I gripped the knife in my hand tighter and he seemed to notice it. I then asked him cautiously who he was. He said his name was Henri Chevalier and that he was merely here to recruit people to kick Louis out of the position of the monarchy. I agreed to sign up to join the Jacobins in kicking Louis out of his position. After all, I despised Louis and Marie Antoinette and I wanted them out of position. We, no longer I, need a new leader. Journal Entry #3:
Finally, Louis and Marie Antoinette were taken to the guillotine. With their heads chopped off, I finally relaxed and awaited for a new leader to arise. The people finally succeeded over the monarchy. Me and the rest of the people have had enough with the rising prices of bread, the unfair taxation, and weak leadership. With the cruel monarchy gone, I'm finally able to relax and wait and see what happens to the economy. It feels like things are finally shaping up. I woke up one day, and I heard someone knocking at my door. I cautiously opened the door and found that a man was standing there. He seemed to be in a rush to tell me something. Before he could open his mouth to tell me whatever he was going to tell me, I asked him who he was, and he told me that his name was Raoul Arpin curtly. Then out of his mouth tumbled several sentences. He said that there was a new leader rising in power. He mentioned that this new leader was claiming to be emperor, and I didn't think that sounded good, because an emperor is still kind of like a monarch, and if I have another monarch ruling over me, I'm not going to be happy. The "emperor's" name was Napoleon Bonaparte. I heard from Raoul that Napoleon took charge of the military, and I feared that he would invade the countryside to take the peoples' grain again. But somehow, I doubted that would happen again, after I heard from Raoul that Napoleon did a good job of defending government delegates. I started to think that this Napoleon wouldn't be so bad after all.
The revolution did serve the interests of my character. After all, Bernard Arnaud despised the king and queen, and he wanted to get ready of them ASAP. Bernard Arnaud thought that the end justifies the means, meaning that Bernard wanted to get rid of the king and queen, whether it be through murder, exile, execution, etc. Although Bernard is sad for those who fought for a democracy in France, he's happy that after the revolution, the king and queen were both finally dead.
